2026 U.S. Furnace Fault-Code Search Demand Snapshot
A small, documented look at how often Americans search for specific furnace fault codes, based on Google Ads Keyword Planner estimates pulled on August 25, 2026. The goal is to show where reader demand sits relative to pages this site has already verified.
Quick answer
Of 30 candidate furnace fault-code phrases checked in Google Ads Keyword Planner (United States, English, accessed August 25, 2026), 22 returned reported average monthly search volume totaling 2,820 searches. Carrier code phrases account for 1,300 of that total, Goodman for 890, Bryant for 450, and Payne for 180. The single highest reported phrase is "carrier furnace code 33" at 390 average monthly searches.
Method
We queried Google Ads Keyword Planner for the United States in English, using exact candidate phrases rather than broad suggestions. The list of 30 candidates was selected manually from the site's existing verified furnace-code inventory and closely related brand and code wording, so every phrase maps to a code we have already documented. Data was accessed on August 25, 2026. Of the 30 candidates, 22 returned a reported average monthly search volume; the other eight returned no reported figure, which we treat as missing data, not zero. All figures below come from the 22 reported rows.

What the snapshot suggests
Reported demand concentrates in a handful of brand-and-code phrases. "Carrier furnace code 33" leads at 390 average monthly searches, followed by "carrier furnace code 31" (320), "goodman furnace 3 flashes" and "goodman furnace 4 flashes" (260 each), "carrier furnace code 13" (260), "goodman furnace 6 flashes" (210), and "bryant furnace code 33" (210). Summed by brand across the reported candidates, Carrier phrases total 1,300 monthly searches, Goodman 890, Bryant 450, and Payne 180. These are annualized monthly averages, and furnace queries swing hard with the heating season, so actual winter volume for any phrase likely runs well above its listed average while summer volume runs below it.
Limits
This snapshot is not a complete market census. It covers 30 hand-picked phrases tied to codes already in our inventory, so it says nothing about demand for codes or brands we did not check. Keyword Planner figures are averaged monthly estimates, not precise counts, and the eight candidates with no reported volume are gaps in the data rather than evidence of zero interest. None of this reflects organic traffic, rankings, or how our pages actually perform in search; it measures what people type into Google, nothing more.
How we will use it
The practical takeaway is internal linking, not new pages. Every high-demand phrase in this snapshot already corresponds to a verified page on this site, so the useful work is strengthening internal links to those existing pages rather than creating duplicates that would compete with them. Search demand also has no bearing on editorial standards here: every code page still goes through the same manual verification against manufacturer documentation, and this page, like the rest of the research section, does not offer repair advice. Diagnosing or servicing a furnace is work for a qualified technician.
